In the scenic Hökensås Nature Reserve on the border between Västergötland and Småland, this cozy cabin sits in a small private cabin community.
The cabin has a kitchen, two bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a “mini office” with a small sofa, and a bathroom with shower and toilet. Large windows in the living room face the lake and the spacious, lovely veranda. The veranda is furnished with a seating area and a dining table.
It’s just over 50 m down to the lake, which offers swimming jetties and a bathing area with a gently sloping sandy beach. Water toys, a rowboat (eka), a canoe and a simple inflatable boat are available to borrow.
Large natural plot with pines and blueberry shrubs. In front of the veranda there is a lawn perfect for socializing, barbecues and games. A large gas grill is available, as well as various games such as badminton, kubb and croquet.
5 km away you’ll find Hökensås Holiday Village with a small convenience store & restaurant (summer), playground and mini-golf.
All around you’ll find many crystal-clear spring lakes as well as forest tarns with darker water. This is one of Sweden’s best areas for sport fishing!
You can paddle on Bredsjön. The Tidan canoe trail runs through the area.
In late summer and autumn there are plenty of berries and mushrooms.
In winter, if the lake is frozen, you can go ice fishing and ice skating—or simply enjoy the tranquility by the fire. A basket with one load of firewood is provided
Very close by: Rävafallet – a waterfall in the forest.
Falks grav – a legendary gravesite in the forest. Hökensås Holiday Village – camping, playground, restaurant & convenience store (summer), mini-golf.
Lilla Havssjön – swimming lake with sandy beach and diving tower.
A bit further: Tidaholm – museum, Turbinhusön, Barnens Hus. Habo kyrka – old wooden church.
Farther away: Hjo – a very charming town with a famous ice-cream paradise in the harbor.
Visingsö – ferry to the island of Visingsö. Remmalag boat tour on Lake Vättern.
Skara Sommarland – a water park for the whole family.
Gränna – famous for its polkagris candy canes.
Läckö Castle with Spiken (fishing village) – a magnificent baroque castle dating back to the 17th century
As you’re in one of Sweden’s best fishing areas, the options are many. At Hökensås Holiday Village, about 5 km from the cabin, you’ll find a well-stocked tackle shop, Hökensås Sportfiske. They offer fishing permits as well as high-quality equipment and gear, plus courses and guiding. Hökensås Sportfiske manages around 30 lakes for different kinds of sport fishing, all in fantastic natural surroundings. In “our” lake there are roach, perch and pike. A fishing permit is required; you can buy it from the neighbor across the street
