Some Cities to Visit in Central Sweden

Gävle

Furuviks Park is located just outside of Gävle and is a very interesting destination for both young people and families with children and is a perfect day trip destination if you rent a cabin in this part of Sweden. In Furuviks Park there is both a zoo and an amusement park and you can also attend many performances by great artists. Gävle is perhaps best known for its very large straw goat that is set up before Christmas time. This straw goat lives a dangerous life and it is not many years that it has been left alone and has survived unscathed over the New Year. It usually ends with it standing in flames and you have to admire the people who build it every year. The ways to destroy the straw goat have varied from year to year, but for the most part it has burned down, it has also happened that it has been attacked by fireworks or mowed down by cars.

Karlstad

Karlstad is a wonderful summer town and well worth a visit for those of you who rent a cabin nearby. Klarälven flows straight through the city and everywhere there are beautiful bridges that are decorated with lots of flowers. The taxi-boats is a nice way to get between the different parts of the city. Instead of taking the bus, you can choose a boat instead when you have to get around in the city. Karlstad is known to be a sunny city but it is not entirely certain if this is due to the many hours of sunshine that the city receives each year or if it originated from the happy little girl who was called "the sun in Kalsta" and served at the city restaurant during the 19th century.

Norrköping

We at the cabin agency recommend a visit to Kolmården's zoo. You can find the zoo in Norrköping and is a big tourist magnet in Central Sweden. People make a pilgrimage to Kolmården every year to see monkeys, tigers, lions and lots of other animals. Kolmården also has fantastic dolphin shows where you can see these wonderful animals play in the water and do different tricks. Something that is appreciated by the children when they visit Kolmården is that here you also get to meet the beloved Swedish cartoon characters Bamse and his friends Skalman and Lille Skutt.
