About Dalsland in Sweden

Cabins in Dalsland are usually charmingly located in the idyll of Sweden. If you are renting a cabin in Dalsland, expect an environment with fantastic lakes and large forests. Dalsland is a relatively small province in Sweden but offers very nice cabins and home rentals in close proximity to many popular tourist destinations.


The Nature of Dalsland 

Dalsland has a fantastic nature with beautiful mountains, lush forests and with over 6000 lakes, Dalsland is the richest lake region in Sweden. Among other things, you can visit the largest lake in Sweden - Lake Vänern which offers everything from fishing to boating along the shoreline. Both Dalsland and Lake Vänern are visited annually by thousands of tourists, which makes it a very popular province. Many have their cabins located close by the lake, especially summer cottages and cabins, but also year-round accommodation.
In Dalsland you can hear the beaver splashing its tail in the river, if you are lucky you can also encounter moose on its way down to the water to drink, or a majestic eagle that hovers over the mountains in its search for food.
Imagine a quiet boat trip on Dalsland's lakes or rivers, in many places in Dalsland you can rent a motorboat or sailboat, or why not a canoe? For several of our cabins, a boat is included in the rent or can be rented. There are many tourists who rent cabins in Dalsland for the excellent fishing opportunities, in Lake Vänern alone there are 38 different species of fish.

Dalsland has an area of 3708 km2 and 50,000 inhabitants. Dalsland is located in the middle of Sweden and borders Värmland in the north, Västergötland in the south, Bohuslän in the west, Lake Vänern in the east and the country of Norway in the northwest.


What to do when you rent a cottage in Dalsland

Dalslands canal

Dalsland's canal is a well-visited route among tourists in Sweden. A trip on the canal is a trip on one of the world's most beautiful waterways. A 250 km long lake system that runs from Lake Vänern up through Dalsland and far into Värmland. In the lake system, there are 31 locks distributed over 17 lock stations. There are three passenger boats that occupy the canal during the summer in Sweden.


Håverud

In Håverud there is a lot to see and do, for example. Dalslands Glassblowing, a restaurant with a salmon smokehouse, canal boats, shops, café, canoe rental and much more that attracts tourists every year. Visit the attraction “Akvedukten” in Håverud, Håverud Aqueduct is a combination of a railway bridge, Road Bridge and an aqueduct - boats can go across a bridge above the rapids below.


Moose Park

Are you interested in seeing moose close up , Then visit Dalsland's Moose Ranch next to country road 164/166 in Dals-Ed. This is a park where you can encounter moose, they also have a shop and a café. The facility is easily accessible, handicap friendly, and with great photo opportunities.


“Not Quite” in Dalsland

Not Quite is one of the top tourist destinations in the region. The combination of high-class art and crafts in the scenic province of Dalslands, with great areas for coffee or lunch.
