Description of the cabin
Idyllic country house with a unique location by the lake. Private, secluded swimming and boating area. A summer paradise surrounded by the farm’s meadows sloping down towards the lake. Fantastic views over Lake Hörendesjön.
There is plenty of space here for relatives or several families. Secluded and peaceful setting. Relax and enjoy the silence. The only sound from the lake is the call of the black-throated diver.
Take the small path down through the meadow to the lake. Perfect for swimming, fishing and lake life, with a canoe and a rowing boat available to borrow.
Light a fire in the open fireplace when gathering in the evening in the dining room, which has space for many around the table, or enjoy the peace and togetherness on the adjoining outdoor terrace with room for many.
The house is old-fashioned, charming and unique, clean, fresh and fully functiona.
If you would like to bring a dog, that is absolutely fine – but not a cat.
There are sorting bins for glass, newspapers, metal, hard plastic, and refundable bottles and cans.
Food waste and combustible waste must be taken by the guests themselves to the recycling station, which is 10 km away.
Tourists attractions
Just a stone’s throw away is the UNESCO World Heritage site Engelsberg Ironworks, rich in industrial history. Visit Sweden’s oldest preserved oil refinery, Oljeön. There is also a sculpture park where, among others, the artist Lars Vilks has installed a work of art in the form of a wooden hut. Trolls, seals and other figures in the sculpture park are usually appreciated by visitors of all ages.
The farm is close to Norberg, where you can enjoy coffee and pastries at Elsa Anderssons in Norberg – the historic café and bakery that burned down and was rebuilt.
It is also close to “Fiket i Färnbo” in Västerfärnebo, which offers local produce and gelato.
Another excursion is Hälleskogsbrännan, where you can see how nature is recovering after the major forest fire that raged in 2014.
About half an hour away is Sala Silver Mine, and it is roughly the same distance to Skultuna Brassworks, with a fine factory outlet selling ceramics, brass and interior décor.
In winter, this is convenient accommodation for the Engelbrekt ski race. The ski resort Romme Alpin is one hour away, and you are just under two hours from Arlanda and Stockholm, and 50 minutes from Västerås.
Within cycling distance from the farm, about 5 km away, there is a public bathing area called “Paradisbadet” with a sandy beach and piers. From there, a canoe trail runs from Lake Hörendesjön through the Svartån river all the way to Västerås.
