The house, originally a typical "summer cottage", is located on a 2000² large nature yard. The whole village consists of what used to be 150 "summer cottages", but about half now consist of houses that are inhabited all year round. The cabin is located approx. 200 m from Lake Mälaren. On the other side approximately, 3 km away, is the old Viking capital Birka with some "new" Viking houses and a museum about the Viking Age.
The area is very quiet: no through traffic, no railroad.
There are slides and swings at the children's swimming area and the water temperature is between 25 and 30 degrees in summer. It is a little cooler where the adults jump directly into the water. Fishing (also with nets) is allowed all year round in our part of Lake Mälaren.
There is plenty of room for hiking. There is more than enough forest for picking mushroom.
If you want to see the capital Stockholm, you can get there in just over an hour by bus/subway or your own car. Or you can take the SL boats, and the same tickets apply as for all local traffic in the greater Stockholm area.
Want to see where Queen Sylvia lives? Then you get off at Drottningholm Palace from the same bus that goes to Stockholm.
Stockholm's archipelago is always worth a boat trip: ships travel for hours back and forth between tens of thousands of these islands. You can stop somewhere, walk a bit, take a swim and go on to the next island, with the same ticket.
But if you want to go on a day trip to the island of Åland, with or without a car, you need a different ticket.
The house itself has been continuously added to and rebuilt. The air/air heating ensures that you always have the temperature you set. Two fireplaces (wood is always available) guarantee a cozy atmosphere. Of course, everything else is available: internet, TV, own (good) water, fully equipped kitchen, microwave oven and so on. And of course a regular bathroom.
You may lay nets (150 m) one km from the beach.
