The High Coast
The High Coast – cabins in Sweden’s spectacular World Heritage coastline
Our cabin agency is genuinely passionate about the High Coast. Here, among dramatic cliffs, deep forests and the open sea, we find peace and new energy. When you are looking for cabins in Sweden and want something truly special, cabins in the High Coast of Sweden are one of our most popular choices – perfect for hiking, fishing, island hopping and slow evenings on the rocks.
Since the year 2000, the High Coast has been part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its unique land uplift and coastline. From your cabin you have nature right on your doorstep: sun-warmed rock slabs for picnics, quiet bays for swimming, clear rivers and lakes for fishing and viewpoints with wide panoramas over islands, forests and sea. At the same time, charming coastal villages, cafés and small farm shops add a cosy and authentic touch to your cabin holiday.
Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, a family holiday with children or an active trip with friends, the High Coast offers plenty of sustainable, family-friendly and affordable experiences. Distances are short, so you can relax, skip the stress and simply enjoy your cabin rental in Sweden.

Classic High Coast feeling – open sea, forested islands and rocky shores.
A world-class archipelago – Ulvön, Trysunda and Högbonden
Renting a cabin in the High Coast gives you access to a world-class archipelago. Boats depart from several harbours to islands such as Ulvön, Trysunda and Högbonden. On Högbonden you find one of Sweden’s highest lighthouses, dramatically located on cliffs that plunge straight into the sea – a place of stillness and sweeping views high above the waves of the Bothnian Sea.
Ulvön, often called the pearl of the Bothnian Sea, is an idyll with red fishing huts, old mine landscapes, cobblestone fields and endless sea views. Here you also find popular cafés and restaurants offering local flavours. Trysunda is a quiet island with sandy beaches, cobblestones and genuine archipelago charm – no surprise it has been named one of Sweden’s most beautiful islands.
If you dream of staying close to the water, you can also explore our categories for cabins by the ocean or cabins by the lake, where several rentals lie in or close to the High Coast area. For more ideas on what to see nearby, you might like our guide to day hikes on your stay in Sweden.

Things to see & do in the High Coast

Where to begin? In Sweden’s most dramatic coastal landscape there is plenty to do – whether you want to raise your heart rate or simply unwind in nature.
If you enjoy swimming from cliffs, the nature reserve Rotsidan is a must, with its long, flat rock slabs and impressive waves. For a family-friendly sandy beach in an archipelago setting, Norrfällsviken is a great option. On rainy or windy days, Paradiset spa and adventure pool in Härnösand is a popular indoor choice.
In Skuleskogen National Park you walk on well-marked trails through old coastal forest, over rocky plateaus and through the famous Slåttdalsskrevan canyon. The views over the sea, islands and hills are unforgettable. Several trails are perfect for day hikes with a picnic. At Skuleberget you will also find one of Europe’s largest via ferrata facilities, where you can climb the 250-metre rock wall with a guide and full safety equipment.
The High Coast is also a fantastic area for paddling. Calm bays, sheltered inlets and island-dotted waters make it ideal for both beginners and experienced paddlers. For more inspiration, take a look at our article about kayaking during your vacation in Sweden.
